How to change the email address used in Nextcloud

Go into your personal info from settings in the upper right hand corner within Nextcloud and add an email address. Tell me via Talk to update you main address. While you are in there, check the other settings such as notifications.

Why you occasionally get emails from Nextcloud saying your email changed

Every time I upgrade our Nextcloud on Ravergram the script sets your email back to your @ravergram.club account. I then need to change it manually to the email address I have on record for you. such as notifications area to ensure you only get the notifications you want.

What? I never got any emails!

If you do not recall seeing any emails from Nextcloud delivered by mail@peoplever.se, they are probably going to your spam folder. I have done everything right to setup the peoplever.se mail server, but some big adtech companies some of you use for email still dumps it into spam.

How you can ensure you receive emails in future

If you send an email to mail@peoplever.se, that may fix it. Doing that should also help establish the mail server's reputation with your mail provider and will be appreciated! You might still need to check your spam folder and mark it as not spam. I am sorry but how these companies decide what should go into spam is a black box and out of my control.

Some of what you can do with this email functionality

• If you want to share a file or something else in your Nextcloud, you can simply type an email address in the share dialog and a link will be sent to recipient by email. The number of other share options is amazing if you have not already noticed.
• If you want to allow people to book a private video conference call on your calendar, the person who books it will get an email for confirmation. • Setup any kind of notification you want in your settings to go to your email.

How to watch, listen, and read with Jellyfin

Jellyfin is an app that looks and works like Netflix, Prime, Disney+, Spotify, Audible, or other streaming apps, but it is free and contains content you will not find on platforms. We can add anything to the library, and no company or government can remove it.

You can watch all the movies, listen to audiobooks and music, view pictures, and read any books at https://ravergram.club/jellyfin or https://ravergram.club/jellyfin-vue. For the best experience on all your devices such as your TV, install the app and enter the server https://ravergram.club/jellyfin in the setup. You can quick connect (without entering password) to Jellyfin on your TV if you have the mobile app installed.

Your account credentials are the same as your main Ravergram account that you use to log into the portal, Nextcloud, and others. Ask me if you have any trouble logging in since I have not created a Jellyfin account for everybody.

How to add content with Nextcloud

Media on Nextcloud can be viewed and streamed directly from Nextcloud, but viewing is not as full featured as Jellyfin.

If you want to upload media to be viewed in Jellyfin, move or copy it to the right folder in mediashare. Soon after uploading via this folder in Nextcloud, it should be visible in Jellyfin app.

Please don't upload junk. Try to clean up the naming and metadata tags before uploading. Jellyfin will automatically look up metadata and images for media and allow you to change metadata. You can use https://picard.musicbrainz.org/ on your desktop to automatically tag music. To delete files, tell me to do so.

These services are reserved for my friends and family.

• If you want to share anything in the library with somebody else, create a share link from Nextcloud files. You can set expiration date, password, and revoke the shares. Anybody can stream or download from Nextcloud with a link you create.

• Do not share your account credentials with anyone. Ask me to create an account for someone else.

• Do not upload media that you would not share with adult friends and family.

Imagine having a single web page or app containing all the news and media items you want to see, organized the way you want, with all the ads and other tracking elements removed. That is an RSS reader.

You can access FreshRSS from the portal https://ravergram.club/ and then click the FreshRSS tile. The guide How to Hack the News describes RSS and ways to find sources to add. It mentions Nextcloud News which is a basic but good RSS reader. I have setup FreshRSS because it has many more features. Many people have created guides about it such as these.

The mobile and desktop apps are great, and I love the ability to subscribe to any site I am currently on by clicking the bookmarklet. I use and love the Feedme app on mobile, but you have many to choose from.

You can also use Nextcloud bookmarks to sync your bookmarks between devices and browsers. A cool feature is the ability to share sections of your bookmarks with other people and allow them to create an RSS feed to be notified of anything new you add. It does not preserve or save the content of the pages well like Readeck.

Readeck preserves the article on the server even if the original site removes it. Archivebox is more fully focuesed to preserve entire sites in many different formats rather than creating a personal reading list. This is like Archive.org functionality.

Anybody can create spreadsheets at https://office.ravergram.club/ that are end to end encrypted. This is a good option for sensitive information you want to keep private.
